Shop Portugal in Lagos

When in Portugal…

I eat garlicky olives; drink Alentejo wine with cheese from Trás-os-Montes. Our food comes from the local waters and fresh market, seasoned with salt raked from the Algarve coast. Portuguese honey sweetens our tea.  I  adore the warm shawls, shoes and bags made of local cork and leather, delicate lace and embroidery; all made with love in Portugal.

If you’re living or visiting in Lagos, enjoy the best of Portugal.

Tying up the Coentro

Open early every Saturday morning, ends about12:30.  Arrive early to get the freshest produce.  The corner of the permanent building has a public scale to check the weight of your purchase.  Bring a pen and paper to shop, most vendors speak only Portuguese.

What to buy:  Seasonal  vegetables and fruit. Home made cakes and sweets. Natural skin care products.  Flowers.  Algarve salt and local honey

What to avoid:    Being overcharged, pay attention!  Know your numbers and weights (in Portuguese).
